Firm
Overview
The
firm was established in 1971 by Hatim S. Zu'bi. Mr. Zu'bi
was licensed to practice as an Advocate before the Courts
of Bahrain until 1983 and since then as a Legal Consultant.
With the implementation of the Advocates Law in 1983, Mr.
Zu’bi joined with his long term associate Mr. Hamid
Al Mahmood the firm was named Al Mahmood & Zu’bi.
The firm is at present a leading Bahraini firm with substantial
international practice.
Corporate
The
firm assists both local and foreign companies in expanding
the Arabian Gulf, Jordan and overseas businesses. Its particular
strengths include domestic and international joint ventures,
construction, hotels, corporate acquisitions, formations/transformation
of public and private shareholding companies, public issues,
listing in the Stock Exchange, private placements, venture
capital and project financing, technology transfer, agency,
distribution and licensing arrangements and all issues emanating
therefrom.
Banking & Finance
The
firm advises and acts for several national, American and international
banking and other financial institutions. It advises on all
aspects of banking laws, regulations and supervisions, including
underwriting and syndication of loans, secured commercial
lending, commercial paper and finance, the raising of equity
and loan finance for foreign trade, project and corporate
finance, the raising of equity and loan finance, handling
trade documents, dealing in foreign exchange and Islamic banking,
insurance and corporate financing.
Construction
The
firm advises and acts for several of the major construction
companies worldwide. It has been involved in most of the construction
projects implemented in Bahrain and acted as legal advisor
to the Government of Bahrain within a consortium in respect
of an independent Power and Water Project.
Arbitration
The firm assists, advises and represents its clients in local
and international arbitration and conciliation proceedings.
The Firm was involved in several major international arbitration
proceedings in the ICC, Paris, and other local and international
arbitration bodies.
Litigation
The
firm assists, advises and represents its clients in litigation
proceedings in all Courts of Bahrain. The Firm represents
successfully several multinational and local banks and companies
in various leading litigation proceedings
in Bahrain.
